The best way to dispose of an on-demand hot water system is to try to recycle. Some places may recycle the pipes from the water heater. Call your local recycling center, landfill, or your city’s solid waste division to find out if they can recycle pipes.
As an alternative, look in the yellow pages under “Recycle” or “Scrap Metal”. If you cannot recycle the pipes, you will need to throw them out with the rest of the unit. Find out if your solid waste provider will collect the system at the curbside or if you need to bring it to a specific facility for disposal.
